Legal Authorization to Drive on Indian Roads
A Driving License (DL) is an official document issued by the RTO that authorizes a person to operate motor vehicles. It comes in categories: LMV (car/jeep), MCWG (motorcycle), HGMV (heavy vehicles), and more.
Visit sarathi.parivahan.gov.in > Apply for Learner's License. Take online theory test.
Hold the Learner's License for at least 30 days before applying for DL.
Apply online at sarathi.parivahan.gov.in and book a driving test slot at your RTO.
Visit the RTO on the scheduled date with your vehicle for the practical driving test.
DL is dispatched to your address within 7 days of passing the test, or collect from RTO.
