Travel the World — Apply, Renew & Track Your Passport
An Indian Passport is a travel document issued by the Government of India that certifies the holder's identity and citizenship. It is available in two types: Regular (36/60 pages) and Tatkaal (urgent).
Create account at passportindia.gov.in.
Select Fresh Passport or Renewal, fill details carefully.
Book appointment at nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
Visit with original documents and application receipt on appointment date.
After biometric capture, police verification happens, then passport is dispatched in 7–30 days.
Tatkaal is an urgent processing scheme for emergency travel. It costs more but is processed in 1–3 working days at PSK.
For first-time passport, police verification is mandatory. For renewal without any changes, it may be post-passport verification.
Yes, minor passports (up to age 18) have a 5-year validity and require both parents' consent and presence.
File an FIR, then apply for fresh passport with "Lost/Damage" reason on the portal. Additional documents may be needed.
